Srila Prabhupad is life biography of Nityalila Pravistha Om Vishnupad Ashtotarashata Sri Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Prabhupad. Bimla Prasad was his childhood name who was born in 1874 in Puri (Orissa) in a Bengali Hindu Kayastha family as a son of Kedarnath Datta Bhaktivinoda Thakur, a recognised Bengali Gaudiya Vaishnava philosopher and teacher. Bimla Prasad received both Western and traditional Indian education and gradually established himself as a leading intellectual among the bhadralok (Western-educated and often Hindu Bengali residents of colonial Calcutta), earning the title Siddhanta Sarasvati ("the pinnacle of wisdom"). In 1900, Bimla Prasad took bhagawath initiation instead of Pancaratrika (diksha) into Gaudiya Vaishnavism from the Vaishnava ascetic Gaurkishor Das Babaji, Although this remains controversial. This involved the sprinkling of holy dust on his head and a simple blessing instead of a fire yajna and other formalities. No one before nor since has received such an initiation. This book is a Bengali to Hindi translation written by Krishna Dasi and translated by Shipra Banerjee.
