The seventh edition of Sri Chaitanya Mela is going to be held from 28th February to 7th March under the aegis of Gaudiya Mission. This should uplift the spirit of the devotees and common people alike as they would be able to come out of the four walls in the easing COVID-19 situation and enjoy the pleasures of participating in various activities and attending uplifting religious discourses and seminars. It is worth mentioning here that the Mela(fair) has now become an integral part of Sri Chaitanya Janmotsav which was revived in the city after many years. It was in 1865 that Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Prabhupada had organized the Janmotsav festival in the city with the support of the leading Vaishnavas including Mahatma Sisir Kumar Ghosh, Editor of the Amrita Bazar Patrika. Alike the previous years, a Nagara Samkirtana will be taken out on the morning of the Mela inauguration day. The procession will begin from Sri Gaudiya Math covering some distance before terminating at Sister Nivedita Udyan, the Mela venue.

All the activities of the nine-day Mela have been planned with the noble objective of propagating the ideals and philosophy of Mahaprabhu. There will be a drawing competition for contestants in the 5-30 age-group. For youngsters with a knack for dress and drama, there will be a Go-as-you-like contest. The only rider is that all the characters they might portray would have to be of Puranic origin. The fairground will reverberate with the sound of "mridangam" when contestants will vie for laurels in the art of playing the most celebrated Kirtana instruments for the Vaishnavas. Those endowed with a gift of the gab will find the elocution contest highly rewarding. One of the spectacular highlights will be Bilwamangal "Jatra pala" by Binapani Samiti of Howrah. On the more serious side, there will be two religious’ conclaves in which members of the monastic orders will deliberate on various spiritual aspects. There will also be a seminar in which participants will be men of letters and leaders from various walks of life. The Mela will thus be a fitting prelude to the celebration of Mahaprabhu's Janma Mahotsav to be held at Sridham Nabawip on the Dol Purnima on 27th March. Objective The objective of the seminars, conferences, and religious assembly is to confer in detail as per the subject of discussion, the measureless benefaction of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the field of spirituality, philosophy, religion, and society. Also, the importance of religion reflected in society’s behavior will be broadly discussed during the religious assembly. The cognitions of a large number of delegates and eminent personalities attending the conference will lead to social stir and awareness, which undoubtedly will bring about moral arousal and give rise to ethical values among the masses. Through this endeavor, a positive consequence is expected in building a better society. The program was designed appropriately by blending religious and contemporary cultural activities keeping the Vaisnava values. Erudite personalities from academics, seers from other missions were invited to make the program meaningful and create awareness of Sri Chaitanya's teachings and philosophy. Seven days Mela Utsav and events were conceptualized by Srila Bhakti Sundar Sanyasi Goswami Maharaj, the Acharya, and President of Gaudiya Mission, Bagbazar.
