Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita is one of the three best and popularly known biographies which detail the pastimes of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. When was Publishing of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Biography Inspired?

Krishna Dasa Kaviraja composed the Chaitanya Mahaprabhu biography in his old age following the request of Vaishnavas of Vrindavan. Although there existed Chaitanya Bhagavata, previous biography by Vrindavna Dasa but it did not comprised the details of later years of the life of Sri Chaitanya.

Chaitanya Charitamrita antya Lila by Krishna Das is known to cover the later years along with including the explanation about the rasa philosophy expounded by Lord Chaitanya and his followers. Latest published contents related to teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also serve as a compendium to practices of Gaudiya Vaishnava.

It also outlines the Gaudiya theology developed by the Goswamis in metaphysics, aesthetics and ontology. It has been frequently copied and widely circulated among the Vaishnava communities of Odisha and Bengal during the early 17th Century. Its high popularity during this golden period can be easily attributed to the propagation of famous Narottama Das, Srinivasa and Shyamananda.
