Centenary Celebration of Sri Gaudiya Math & Mission at Kolkata, West Bengal

Gaudiya Mision aims at reaching out to the people for uplift, development and fulfillment of the mankind at large through spread of education, medical relief to the poor and advancement of other objects of general public utility. The Mission is constantly engaged in academic, philanthropic and social activities. Its academic activities include running of educational centres and libraries, holding of seminars and conferences publication of books and magazines as well as preservation of old manuscripts in Sanskrit and Bengali.

In order to celebrate this successful initiative of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Prabhupad and the Centenary of Sri Gaudiya Math and Mission, Gaudiya Mission Bagbazar has planned a three year long programme. The inaugural function of the Three-Year Long Centenary Celebration was held at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata on 21st February, 2016. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated  the Centenary Celebration. Prime Minister Shri Modi said in his speech that “a true devotee is a person who never gets divided”. He said that our religious tradition has taught us tolerance and India's strength lies in her spiritual tradition. we shold practice not only 'live and let live' but should also help others live. The Prime Minister later visited Sri Gaudiya Math, Bagbazar. There he performed arati of Sri Gaurvinodanandaji.

Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal and Shri Tathagata Roy, Hon'ble Governor of Tripura, all other Acharyas of different Gaudiya Sampradayas and other dignitaries attended the function. Srila Bhakti Suhrid Paribrajaka Goswami Maharaj, President & Acharya, Gaudiya Mission presided over the inaugural function. The Mission also brought out a souvenir and a book on Srila Saraswati Goswami Prabhupada in this function.

To make the inauguration of the Three-Year Long Centenary Celebration a very memorable event, a Grand Congregation of Gaudiya Vaishnavas—“Gaudiya Vaishnavas Mohamilan Utsava”—was also held. Acharyas and senior Sadhus of different Gaudiya Sampradayas addressed the delegates and devotees. While these Spiritual Discourses were going on in the lecture session, Baul Geeti, Sankirtan and playing of Mridangas, were the special attraction of the cultural session.
