The Devotion That Stays Forever Unmatched: Life Of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu

Posted on: September 12, 2018 Posted By: ADMIN

Here comes a brief description on the life of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, his great works & the ultimate devotion to Lord Krishna. A philosopher and Hindu theologian in the 16th century, Sri Chaitanya propagated that personality of Godhead can be understood only by pure devotion and not by philosophy, yoga or good works.

Early Life

Born in a small town of Nadia district, Mayapur, on 23rd Phalguna of 1407(18th Feb 1486 of Christian Calendar) Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has many anecdotes of miracles attached to his name. It is said that he continuously wept in his mother’s arms but strangely stopped always when someone utters ‘haribol’ (Hail Lord Krishna)

His actual name was Visvambhara, given by his grandfather, a renowned astrologer who foretold the child’s great personage in time.  His small miracles soon spread all over in the town of Nadia and people stating him a missionary from the Almighty God himself.

Preaching Movement

Teaching the esoteric principles of devotion or ‘bhakti’, Sri Chaitanya visited all nearby towns, asking name to sing in the name of ‘Hari’ (Lord Krishna).  Just at the age of 24, he took ‘Sannyasa’ under Keshav Bharti’s guidance, thus, breaking all mortal connections & greed of life.

He served with extreme dedication, devotion like never seen before. The latter part of the life of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was spent in the holy temple city of Jagannath in Puri, where he continued his great works in bringing pure intended devotion in the name of Lord Krishna.
